Fall family photos are always a highlight of my year, and this season started off so strong with this sweet family! Crystal Lake in Grande Prairie is such a pretty location already, and it was made doubly special by being a place they actually spend a lot of time together throughout the year. I always love it when we’re able to incorporate locations with more personal connections to the family, that take it beyond just a pretty background into something more meaningful to document!
Something that has rarely happened in my life occurred thanks to this family session, which was that it was the second photoshoot in just one day where Kathleen was the star of the show! 😂 I have so enjoyed getting to capture regular images for her on a commercial level at their business, Crouse’s Cleaners, so getting to double up with a commercial shoot and a family session was especially fun! I like to think that Kathleen enjoyed our business photoshoot together so much that morning that she couldn’t resist adding in a family session for the very same day! 😉
Although this was still a little early for the fall colours this year, we found a perfect tree that was just divine with the golden-hour light shining through its branches! It even had the foresight to deposit a healthy amount of leaves onto the ground for us, which made for lots of entertainment for the little ones! I really couldn’t complain about how healthy and green the rest of the trees were anyway, because it also meant that the weather was perfect and basically still felt like summer!
Matt & Kathleen, it was so much fun getting to capture these sweet moments with your family!! I know it probably felt a little bit like an uproar at times but you guys handled it all like pros! I hope you love the images as much as I enjoyed taking them and that they will always be a precious reminder of this stage of life with your children!
